Jolie referred to her mother’s separation from her father, actor John Voight, and said: “When my mother was 25 years old, she was divorced and had two children, so she decided to focus her life solely on motherhood.”

The famous star explained that Marcheline loved being a full-time mother, and that she wanted her to be an actress, so she does not remember that she made the decision to be an actress, but rather she made it in order to make her happy and help her pay the bills, noting that her mother was managing her business. Angelina continued that she had always wanted to buy a house for her mother, and things like that, and it started that way.

The star touched on Marcheline’s death, and what she felt at the time, as she confirmed that when she died, she thought it would be difficult for her to be an actress for a while, realizing the extent of its impact on her.

This is not the first time that Jolie has spoken about the impact of her mother’s death on her. In a press interview in 2008, she explained how she was inspired by her mother’s dedication to motherhood. She then revealed that when her mother passed away, she realized that the person who lives his life with this kind of devotion to his family is the most noble, and that with her passing it reminded her of what is important, and what is most enjoyable, which is to put yourself aside for the sake of these other little ones that you are raising.

Likewise, while accepting the performance award at the “Gotham” Awards ceremony, which was held last month, Jolie pointed out that Marcheline’s dedication to theater and literature also shaped her career, as she explained that she grew up with a mother who kept books in the oven; Because there were more books than shelves in the apartment they owned.

It is noteworthy that the actress and her mother remained close throughout the rest of Bertrand’s life, and she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1999. She was later diagnosed with breast cancer, until she died on January 27, 2007, at the age of 56 years.
