The agency quoted in Update on the situation in GazaUnited Nations Children’s Fund forecasts (UNICEF) That more children will lose their lives due to the inhumane conditions they suffer from, which do not provide them with any protection from the cold in light of the winter weather and low temperatures.

At least five newborns reportedly froze to death between December 24-29. UNICEF said that about 7,700 newborns in the Gaza Strip lack life-saving care.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini also said in a post on the X platform that blankets, mattresses and other winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months awaiting approval to bring them into Gaza.

On the other hand, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, water quality monitoring recently conducted by the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Cluster showed alarming microbiological contamination rates. The office said that approximately 73% of drinking water and more than 97% of household water samples do not meet minimum national or international standards for water disinfection with chlorine.
