A Palestinian official: Demanding occupation officials to annex and level cities in the West Bank is an invitation to ethnic cleansing

President of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, said that the demand of officials in the Israeli occupation government to annex the West Bank, establish settlements in the Gaza Strip, and level the Palestinian cities in the West Bank, similar to what happened in Jabalia in the Gaza Strip, represents an explicit call for ethnic cleansing.
Fattouh stressed – in a statement to the Council today, Tuesday, as reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) – that these practices come within the framework of the Israeli settlement policy aimed at Changing the facts on the ground, obliterating the Palestinian identity, and violating the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people recognized by international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
He explained that racist calls and settlement plans do not only constitute a threat to existence. Rather, it is a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, including the Geneva Conventions and Security Council resolutions that reject settlement and the annexation of lands by force.
The President of the Palestinian National Council demanded, The international community and human rights institutions must assume their responsibilities and stop this dangerous escalation, and work to hold the occupation authorities accountable for their aggressive policies that threaten peace and security in the region and perpetuate occupation and racism, calling at the same time to strengthen Palestinian national unity to confront these challenges and continue the legitimate struggle to achieve freedom, independence and the establishment of The independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
