المملكة: With the participation of 1,785 schools… “Education” celebrates the Arab Literacy Eradication Day
Contributions of the Ministry of Education in 2024
The Ministry of Education made notable contributions during the year 2024, as 3 new Saudi cities were approved within the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, which are Yanbu Industrial City, Jubail, and Medina.
The city of Yanbu also achieved the Best Global Learning Cities award and was chosen among the top 10 cities on the global network level. The city of Jubail hosted the Sixth International Conference on Learning Cities under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to developing sustainable education, as 1,785 schools for continuing education were established in the primary stages. The ministry has implemented 652 training programs in various technical, vocational and skill fields. Through 105 learner neighborhood centers, 20,295 male and female beneficiaries benefited.
The Ministry launched a number of innovative educational initiatives, which included wandering reading to enhance the love of reading among all segments of society, the Volunteer Life initiative, which aims to encourage young people and adults to contribute to community development, in addition to the Maharati Initiative, which seeks to enhance community learning and develop individuals’ skills.
A promising future vision
In its future vision, the Ministry of Education seeks to expand the accession of new Saudi cities to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, and to work to enhance the use of smart learning to achieve a society free of illiteracy, and to reduce digital illiteracy through advanced technical programs that meet the needs of the future.
The Ministry is also working to intensify educational initiatives to achieve sustainable development goals and consolidate the concept of lifelong learning in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
