With most stock markets declining… European stocks close lower

European stock indices closed lower in today’s trading. The European Stoxx 600 index ended trading with a decline of 0.2%, at a time when most European stock exchanges declined.
The British index ( ) of medium-sized companies fell by 2%.

The French CAC 40 index led the decline in euro zone stock exchanges, declining by 0.5%.
Among the most affected in Europe were retail company stocks, which fell by 1.8 percent, while health care stocks rose by 0.8 percent, and European space and defense sector stocks increased by 1.1 percent.
