Officials of travel and tourism companies said that air ticket prices for some major destinations decreased by rates exceeding 47% during the current period, after rising by rates of up to 100% during the end of the year and New Year’s Day, whether to the Emirates or to some major Arab or foreign destinations.
They explained to “Emirates Today” that this is due to the decrease in demand for travel after the end of the first semester vacation in the country, and the end of the holiday period and New Year’s holidays.
They expected that ticket prices would continue to decline until mid-next March, by rates ranging between 20 and 30%, depending on the destination and date of travel, after which prices would begin to rise coinciding with the Eid al-Fitr holiday at the end of next March.
In detail, the General Manager of Al-Yasmine Travel and Tourism Company, Salah Khaled Salem, said that the current period is witnessing a decrease in airline ticket prices, by rates exceeding 40% compared to the period of the end of the year and New Year’s Day, which witnessed significant increases in ticket prices that reached 100%. For his part, the CEO of Nirvana Holding Group, Alaa Al-Ali, confirmed that travel ticket prices are witnessing a decline of between 30% and 40% in the current period compared to the end of the year and New Year’s period, which witnessed significant increases in ticket prices that reached 100%.
