Joint projects with Brazil support sustainability and innovation

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, received today, Friday, the Minister of Mines and Energy of the friendly Federal Republic of Brazil, Alexander Silveira.

During the meeting, ways to strengthen economic relations between the two friendly countries were discussed, especially in vital areas including the energy sector and mineral exploration, in addition to discussing opportunities to expand strategic partnerships and enhance the exchange of expertise and modern technologies, which contributes to supporting comprehensive development and economic prosperity in both countries.

On the sidelines of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries to enhance their bilateral relations in the areas of developing investments in energy, mineral exploration and other related fields. It was signed by Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment, for the Emirati side. On the Brazilian side, Alexander Silveira.

This agreement comes in light of the results of the official visit made by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Federal Republic of Brazil last November and his meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields of common interest.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness to continue strengthening its strategic relations with the Federal Republic of Brazil, especially in the energy and minerals sector, pointing out the importance of exchanging experiences and encouraging joint projects that contribute to supporting sustainability and innovation in this vital sector, including It benefits the two friendly countries and enhances their efforts to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development goals in both countries.

Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi said: “Our cooperation with Brazil underscores the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth. This memorandum of understanding represents a very important step to enhance cooperation in the mining sector, support the transformation of the energy sector, and ensure the application of world-class practices in the economic, social and governance fields. This memorandum also embodies the UAE’s commitment to strengthening promising partnerships that are of mutual benefit to the two countries. We are confident that the memorandum will stimulate the development of relations between the UAE and Brazil across the private and public sectors, in the interest of both countries in the long term.”

For his part, Alexandre Silveira said: “Brazil is proud to strengthen its partnership with the UAE, which reflects our shared vision to drive the transformation of the energy sector, as such strong international partnerships are essential to ensuring that resources are managed responsibly, while promoting economic growth. We are confident that this cooperation will achieve tangible results that contribute to progress and prosperity for both countries.”

The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs; Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Saleh Ahmed Salem Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil, and Walid Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Executive Vice President of the Mubadala Group.
