Trump’s former personal lawyer was convicted in a defamation case

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, was convicted the day before yesterday of contempt in a federal court in Washington, for his appeal of defamation of two election workers during the 2020 presidential elections, after the court obligated him to pay them compensation amounting to about 150 million dollars.

Giuliani, who was a Republican at the time, led Trump’s campaign to invalidate the results of the November 2020 election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. In December 2023, the court ordered him to pay more than $148 million to Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Andrea “Shay” Moss, who worked to organize elections in the crucial state of Georgia, in the southeast of the country. The facts of the case go back to a video clip in which the mother and daughter appeared while counting ballot papers, exchanging something, which later turned out to be a mint candy tablet.
