Because of a gas heater… 6 people were killed in an explosion in a restaurant in the Czech Republic

6 people were killed and 8 others were injured in an explosion that caused a fire in a restaurant in the Czech Republic last night.
The fire department said that the injured were transferred to the hospital or to a clinic specializing in burns in the capital, Prague.
Eyewitnesses indicated that the fire broke out when a gas heater fell on an outdoor balcony closed with glass, causing the propane cylinder inside to ignite.

The fire spread quickly

Emergency services indicated that the fire spread unusually quickly, and that other gas cylinders exploded during the process of extinguishing the fire.
The incident occurred in the restaurant in the center of the industrial city of Most, about 15 kilometers from the German border.

Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakošan wrote on the social networking site “X” that about 30 people fled from the restaurant and nearby buildings to safe places.

The fire completely destroyed the restaurant

A local news station reported that the fire completely destroyed the restaurant, with the flames reaching a height of between 2 and 3 metres.
More than 60 firefighters, 10 ambulance teams and a rescue helicopter were sent to the accident site.
A fire brigade spokeswoman said that when emergency services arrived, large parts of the restaurant were already on fire.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred in Most,” Czech President Petr Pavel said in a post on the X platform.
The police launched an investigation into a crime suspected of threatening public safety.
