Channel founder "eight": Digital Arabic content 1% on the Internet

Dubai, January 13 / WAM / Saudi content creator Abdul Rahman Abu Malih, entrepreneur and founder of the “Eight” channel, confirmed that digital Arabic content suffers from a weakness in quantity and quality, despite the fact that the number of Arabic speakers exceeds 500 million people around the world.
He called for reconsidering content production methods and increasing its quality, with the need to adopt sustainable models that ensure the continuity of content development and expansion of its spread, pointing out the importance of a balance between providing free and paid content, in a way that reflects its true value and deserves the public’s trust.
This came in a session entitled, “Is the Arab World Ready for Paid Content?”, within the activities of the One Billion Followers Summit, organized by the UAE Government Media Office, and its activities concluded today.
Abu Maleh said that digital Arabic content represents only 1% of the Internet, noting that this number is not proportional to the size of Arabic speakers or the value of the language itself.
He added that content contributes to changing societies for the better, noting that the lives of many were affected by a book they read, or a video they watched, adding: “However, we find that Arabic content does not provide enough to advance the wheel of development.”
He wondered: Is the Arab audience willing to pay money for premium content? He stressed that the problem is not only the audience, but the quality of the content, which requires raising the level of the content first before thinking about converting it to paid content, because quality is what ensures attracting and retaining the audience. .
He pointed out that technology provides powerful tools for production, adding: “Without financial support and digital infrastructure, we will not be able to achieve a qualitative leap. Support is not a luxury, but rather a necessity to establish a sustainable model that can place Arabic content in a global competitive position.”
