Dubai Roads develops 8 marine transport stations to suit people of determination

The Roads and Transport Authority has completed the project to develop marine transport stations to comply with the standards of the Dubai Environment Code that qualify people of determination, which aims to provide services that are easily accessible to all segments of society in accordance with approved designs and requirements, in a way that achieves the vision of the Emirate of Dubai to be a friendly city for people of determination.
The Roads and Transport Authority is keen to ensure that all its facilities and services in mass transit are friendly to people of determination, in implementation of the Dubai Government’s initiative aimed at making the city of Dubai friendly to people of determination, to meet their needs and enable them to move around safely and smoothly, to ensure that they receive an integrated service according to their needs, and in full compliance. Khalaf Balghazouz Al Zarouni, Director of the Marine Transport Department at the Public Transport Corporation at the Authority, said that the Authority has completed the development of 8 marine transport stations in the Emirate of Dubai during the year 2024, by providing elements of connection between facilities, sidewalks and open spaces to ensure the movement and access of people of determination and various groups of society to their destinations independently. Al Zarouni explained that the scope of work included rehabilitating the infrastructure of maritime transport stations, including enhancing lighting, providing hand handles, improving floors by adding security and safety signs according to marine specifications, and hearing enhancers by providing loudspeakers to communicate with people with hearing challenges to directly inquire about maritime transport schedules and trips.
