Abu Dhabi Police calls for children to be required to wear protective equipment for motorcycles and electric bikes
The Abu Dhabi Police General Command called on parents to require their children to wear protective equipment while driving motorcycles and electric scooters.
This is part of the Ministry of Interior’s first quarterly campaign for the year 2025 in the United Arab Emirates, entitled “Traffic Safety for Cyclists,” with the aim of enhancing traffic awareness of the safety measures necessary for using bicycles of various types.
It emphasized its interest in reducing wrongful phenomena and behaviour, promoting the concept of safe driving in order to preserve lives, reduce the occurrence of accidents and serious injuries, and raise the level of compliance with traffic regulations and laws.
She pointed out the importance of not driving in a way that poses a threat to the life and safety of others while riding bicycles, wearing a helmet, wearing appropriate (phosphorous) clothing and safety tools when driving (helmet, phosphorescent clothing, and hand and foot protectors), and ensuring that the tires and brakes are safe and that the bike is in good condition before riding it.
