The UAE and Japan enhance cooperation in space industries

ABU DHABI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and His Excellency Moto Yuji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, discussed in Abu Dhabi ways to enhance cooperation and create opportunities that support the development of space industries in the two friendly countries, according to a governance and framework. A memorandum of cooperation “MOC” is being worked on in coordination with the UAE Space Agency and other concerned parties.
The two sides look forward to agreeing and signing this memorandum, which comes within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership initiative between the two countries that was signed in September 2022, and in implementation of the outcomes of the joint Emirati-Japanese workshop on space, which was held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Space Dialogue Forum on December 12, 2024, and was It represents an important step in the efforts of both sides to enhance cooperation in the field of space.
This strategic partnership between the UAE and Japan supports the agency’s programs that it launched in recent years, most notably the Economic Space Zones Initiative, which aims to support the establishment and sustainability of national companies, through cooperation with strategic partners, and creating an integrated business environment that meets local and international needs and enhances innovation. Space technology is used for commercial applications, contributing to building a diverse and sustainable knowledge economy.
The two sides also discussed developing a joint road map to develop the space industry, and organizing specialized events and seminars to support the implementation of strategic goals, in a way that strengthens bilateral relations and contributes to the development of the space sector in the two countries.
