Tadweer Group intends to reduce the emissions of its operations by 40% by 2035

ABU DHABI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / Tadweer Group announced the launch of a decarbonization path that aims to reduce emissions across its operational operations by 40% by 2035, in a move that reflects the group’s commitment to extracting the value inherent in waste, promoting the circular economy, and harnessing technology to remove carbon from the sector.
The announcement came during the group’s participation in the 11th session of the “EcoWaste” exhibition and conference, currently held at the “ADNEC” Center in Abu Dhabi, which specializes in the field of recycling, waste management, and industries for converting waste into resources in the Middle East and North Africa region, where the group participates in the event as a strategic partner. The announcement comes in line with the ambitions and objectives of the Tadweer Group to reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the global waste sector by a rate ranging between (3 to 5%), with a special focus on methane gas that is emitted from landfills, and is also consistent with the UAE’s third nationally determined contribution. It is a standard used by the country to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement, which enhances the group’s support for the global sustainability agenda.
Engineer Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Tadweer Group, said that this announcement contributes to paving the way for the group to shift to conducting its business in a low-carbon environment. By reducing emissions resulting from waste, we effectively contribute to confronting the challenges of climate change and achieving the UAE’s goals of climate neutrality.
He added that decarbonizing the waste sector in Abu Dhabi will also contribute to achieving international climate goals and commitments to achieving zero emissions, which highlights the group’s support for the pledge of climate-responsible companies in the UAE and in building a more sustainable world by enhancing knowledge of ways to reduce emissions.
He explained that the decarbonization path focuses on Tadweer Group’s projects to remove waste from landfills and transform it into renewable resources, as is currently happening in the first new material recovery facility in Abu Dhabi and in waste-to-energy conversion stations, noting that the advanced technologies used in converting waste into resources and included in The path includes technologies for converting waste into sustainable aviation fuel and biofuel, as this path is also a measurable climate transformation plan to divert waste away from landfills in line with the group’s ambitions and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
He said that, within the framework of the group’s keenness to achieve a future with zero emissions, the path is also considered one of the factors helping to achieve progress in the “Zero Waste” initiative to remove carbon from waste at the global level, as this contributes to improving air quality and enhancing public health, as well as providing Employment opportunities in green jobs, creating new ways to stream revenue, and promoting leadership in low-carbon innovation.
