UAE University announces the success of the launch of the Al AinSat-1 satellite.

The United Arab Emirates University announced the success of the mission to launch the first artificial satellite launched by the National Center for Space Science and Technology, Al AinSat-1, in partnership with the Society for Earth Sciences and Remote Sensing, affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The satellite was launched via the Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX, and the center’s ground station was able to pick up the first signal from the satellite.

His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the State and Supreme President of the UAE University, said that the launch of the Al AinSat-1 satellite aboard the Falcon 9 rocket is a historic achievement for the United Arab Emirates University, and the culmination of strenuous efforts made by a team of researchers and experts. In cooperation with prestigious international scientific institutions,” he pointed out that this great success represents a milestone in the university’s march towards leadership in scientific research and space sciences, and embodies the vision of the wise leadership in Strengthening the country’s position in space exploration and innovation of advanced technical solutions.

He extended his sincere congratulations to the work team that contributed to achieving this achievement, wishing them success in completing the mission and achieving its goals, pointing out that “Al AinSat-1”, with its innovative design and advanced technical capabilities, will enhance the university’s capabilities in remote sensing and provide accurate data that contributes to Supporting sustainable development projects in various sectors.

It is noteworthy that the National Center for Space Science and Technology plays a pivotal role in promoting space initiatives and bridging the gaps between the academic sectors and the technologies used in the space industry.

This commitment and ambition is evident in the “AinSat-1” project, a joint project between the center and the Geosciences and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, as the moon is a cube with a size of 3 cubic units, and its dimensions are 10 cm x 10 cm x 30 cm. It operates in low Earth orbit and has a mass of 3.7 kg.

The project aims to enable student teams from different local and international universities to work on developing small satellites, and then exchange experiences and knowledge among themselves. This project comes within a group of the center’s projects aimed at creating an inspiring environment for students and researchers to develop their skills and expertise in the field of space.

The center works to provide unique opportunities for students to work on satellite projects, the first product of which was “AinSat-1”, which is considered a living model of fruitful international cooperation, which brought together student minds from different parts of the world to work towards a common goal in the field of space technology.
