Members of the German “Social Democratic Party” call for the return of Al -Wefaq with Russia

In the middle of last April, three weeks before the expiration of the mandate of the former German counselor, Olaf Schultz, a German delegation traveled to Baku in Azerbaijan to hold a series of secret meetings with Russian officials, and during their presence in the “Zavirano” restaurant at the “Four Seasons” hotel in the city, the members of the delegation met the human rights official, civil society and the international cultural envoy of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and also met with the former Prime Minister Gazprom is headed by Victor Zobkov, and runs the state -owned gas bloc.

Among the present Germans, the prominent leftist deputy of the Social Democratic Party, Ralph Stegen, a party to which Schultz belongs, came as a member of the Intelligence Committee in the “Bundestag”, and also as a knowledge of some of the state’s most sensitive secrets in his country.

For 20 years, these meetings known as “Petersburg dialogues” have been a symbol of the distinguished relationship between Berlin and Moscow, and an opportunity for sympathizers of Russia in the German elite to expand their business base and know the Kremlin.

These intimate relationships were supposed to remain forgetful after the comprehensive war of Russia on Ukraine in 2022, however, it seems that getting rid of old customs is very difficult.

This week, Stegener has emerged again as one of the signatories of a statement calling for a completely retreating from the “turning point” in German foreign and security policy, especially towards Moscow.

The document, which was supported by more than 100 politicians from the Social Democratic Party, calls for negotiations with the Russian government on establishing a “new peace and security system for Europe” and “a gradual return to reconciliation and cooperation” with Russia.

Instead of spending 3.5% of GDP on re -arms, as the document says, Germany should seek disarmament, escalation, and allocate hundreds of additional billions of public borrowing to combat poverty and climate change.

The document adds that “this is not a time (borrowing) the Kremlin unilaterally, but rather a time of peace policy aimed at achieving joint security, starting with the refusal to host any medium -range American missiles on German soil.”

Besides Stegen, the statement includes Rolf Motzenish, who was for a few weeks, the leader of the Social Democratic Party in the “Bundestag” and one of the most influential figures in the Schultz administration, the joint national leader of the party until 2021, Norbert Valter Borgan, and the leading parliamentarian in the field of energy policy, Nina Sher.

The statement represents a direct attack not only on the adviser of the Christian Democratic Union Party, Fredchich Mertz, but also on his partners in the ruling coalition of the Social Democratic Party.

The statement targets the head of the Minister of Finance and the vice -deputy of the counselor, Lars Klinghil, and the Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, who visited Kiev, last Thursday, to discuss strengthening German military aid to Ukraine.

This declaration was happy, the alternative for Germany, the hard -walled okay, which is eager to restore the friendly and commercial relations with Russia.

The joint leader of the alternative for Germany, Teno Sherwala, indicated that this declaration is a basis for a possible coalition between the alternative parties for Germany and the Social Democratic Party. “I am happy that some politicians of the Social Democratic Party join us in the peace process,” Sherwala told the Bild newspaper.

However, this declaration sparked the dissatisfaction of the members of the Social Democratic Party, who believe that Putin’s attempt to destroy an entire country on the borders of the European Union has recently shocked their party, and removed it from its ancient military hostilities and emotion towards Russia.

One of the officials of the Social Democratic Party has expressed concern that the party may return to the fierce internal struggles of the eighties, when the Social Democratic Adviser, Helmut Schmidt, angered many in its ranks by agreeing to host the US -armed Birching 2 Betrang 2 missiles, as part of an endeavor to compel Moscow to negotiate the reduction of armament.

The source of the Social Democratic Party said: “In the third year of Putin’s comprehensive war on Ukraine, the Social Democratic Party believes that the Kremlin ruler can be satisfied by making concessions.” He added, “This deadly illusion undermines the newly formed government, which faces tremendous challenges.”

However, it is not yet clear whether the statement represents more than just a conclusion of a peaceful faction in the Social Democratic Party, who now finds itself marginalized by the coalition and fights to maintain its position. Some of the supporters of Klinklel see the initiative as a revenge for the cruelty he seized the party.

The apparent matter, the rebellion seems limited. While Stegener and Muttinish still enjoy some influence to the left of the Social Democratic Party, they were able to persuade only three other deputies to sign their statement. Their initiatives are believed to have been rejected by a number of other senior politicians.

Most of the sites coming from the semi -official “peace circles” in the Social Democratic Party are politicians and official and minimum in the hierarchy of the party, and many of them are retired.

Unlike Hans Aishil, who served as Minister of Finance during the reign of Chancellor, Chariter Schroeder, the friend of Putin and the godfather of “Germany’s link to Moscow”, the list lacks names that even the German voter is unusual to know it.

Georhard Schroeder has a close personal relationship with Putin, and he continued to call for a more soft approach towards Russia since he left his position in 2005. However, there is still great concern that the return of the peace movement may consolidate the divisions in the Mertz and Kelling Coalition, and it is in the interest of the Alternative Party for Germany, and pushes the voters of the Social Democratic Party with peaceful trends to peace The arms of the radical left.

A source in the Social Democratic Party said: “The damage is great because the government is fragile,” and added: “Klinghil has wagered with all his strength on his bold endeavor to power, as he created enemies between the old elites, which seeks revenge. The spending has increased on armaments, and the war speech is not permanently popular in the Social Democratic Party, Klinkagil must subside these fires. About the London “Times”
