المملكة: Awareness programs and enhancing school readiness… Recommendations of the Taif Meteorology Forum

The Meteorology Forum, which concluded its work in Taif Governorate yesterday, recommended strengthening the strategic partnership between the National Center of Meteorology and the Ministry of Education. With the aim of improving preventive measures within educational institutions, and increasing awareness of the dangers of severe weather events to ensure the safety of male and female students.
The forum, which lasted for three days, with the participation of educational leaders, security and safety officials in schools from various regions of the Kingdom, in addition to male and female students, focused on raising the level of readiness to confront climate change, and providing a safe and sustainable educational environment through integration between the concerned authorities.

Spreading a culture of weather and climate

The forum came out with a number of important recommendations, most notably the development of comprehensive awareness programs aimed at spreading weather and climate culture among male and female students, and increasing reliance on modern technologies to monitor weather phenomena and issue early warnings.
He also recommended the need to raise the readiness of educational facilities to face the challenges resulting from climate change, and to improve coordination between the National Center of Meteorology and relevant authorities to ensure the safety of everyone.

On the sidelines of the forum, the fourth educational awareness program concluded its work in Taif, after continuing for five days in partnership with the Ministry of Education. With the aim of raising young people’s awareness of weather and climate concepts, and highlighting the vital role that meteorology plays in various areas of life.
The program witnessed multiple activities, including the accompanying exhibition that attracted the interest of male and female students by presenting weather monitoring techniques and methods for measuring climate elements, in addition to the “Little Observer” program, which provided participants with a practical experience to explore how to extract weather information.

In addition to awareness presentations using cartoon characters such as “spots and clouds,” and a demonstration of advanced technologies such as “rain seeding programs.”
This forum and awareness program come as part of the national efforts led by the National Center of Meteorology to enhance community awareness of the importance of meteorology and its pivotal role in protecting lives and property, and contributing to achieving the goals of sustainable development and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
