CEO of"Airbus": Huge pressure to deliver orders and there is no European-Chinese competition in the aviation industry

Dubai, February 3, 2017 / WAM / Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, confirmed that there is no competition between China and Europe in the aviation industry, and that his company is working under tremendous pressure from its customers to deliver orders faster.

During a session entitled “How do we ensure that the world stays connected,” within the activities of the World Government Summit that began today and will continue for three days under the slogan “Foreseeing the Governments of the Future,” Fauri pointed out that the Chinese ambition in the aviation industry represented by the C919 aircraft produced by the Chinese company COMAC does not negate the importance of the European Airbus and the American Boeing, explaining that the aircraft is already flying in China and is currently undergoing the certification process in Europe.

The Airbus CEO pointed out that “the best way to confront emerging competitors is to continue investing and developing our products to remain technologically superior.”

Regarding the future of innovation and technology development at Airbus, Faury said: “Ego has no place in the world of aviation, and the real bet lies in always remaining at the forefront of technology.”

Fawry revealed the features of the upcoming aircraft that will succeed the A320, which was called “the most successful aircraft in the history of commercial aviation,” as it flew for the first time in 1987. He explained that the program will be launched by the end of this decade and the aircraft will enter service in the middle of the next decade, adding: “The aircraft will not be just a development of the old model, but will be completely new to integrate the latest technologies in fuel consumption, quality of performance, and passenger comfort.”

Regarding the possibility of self-financing the new aircraft project, the CEO of Airbus explained that the company is in a financial position that allows it to self-finance its projects, while he indicated his preference for having partners.

At the conclusion of his speech, Fauri confirmed that the very long-range A350-1000 aircraft will enter service soon, as it was designed as part of the “Sunrise” project for long, direct flights from London and New York to Sydney, indicating that the flight management will be in cooperation with the Australian company “Qantas”.
