"Cyber security" Announces that national systems have responded to attacks "Ransom" Electronic…and identifying the hackers

Abu Dhabi, 17 January / WAM / The UAE Government Cyber Security Council announced that the national cyber systems responded to the malicious electronic “ransomware” attacks, which targeted a number of strategic sectors in the country, from both the government and private sectors, with the aim of leaking data and locking down digital systems.
He explained that the cyber emergency systems in the country, in cooperation with the concerned authorities, succeeded in monitoring and responding proactively and professionally to the number of 200,000 malicious cyber attacks daily during the recent period, in addition to identifying the hackers and the launch location of their cyber attacks, which were dealt with in accordance with protection systems and cyber security policies. .
He pointed out that recent and complex hacking attempts were monitored, which turned out to be supported by artificial intelligence techniques, which is one of the most prominent modern challenges targeting digital infrastructure. The continuous rise in cyber threats using artificial intelligence techniques was also monitored, and not just in deep fakes or social engineering. Rather, it has increased its pace by using artificial intelligence to improve malware, the most important of which is malicious “ransomware.”
The Council stated that it is expected that during this year, with the adoption of modern technologies by the parties, traditional attacks on the one hand, such as phishing and social engineering, will continue, and that there will be a qualitative leap in the combination of modern cyber attacks that use artificial intelligence, which are more complex and difficult to monitor except with more modern technologies. .
The Council stressed the need for all government and private agencies to comply with cybersecurity standards, to ensure that they are avoided being exposed to such malicious cyberattacks.
The Cyber Security Council called on all governmental and private institutions and individuals to take caution and be careful to avoid being affected by potential cyber attacks, stressing the need for institutions as well as individuals to be alert to hacking and electronic fraud tools, which are taking different forms, so as not to fall victim to cyber attacks that may harm them and make them a victim. For such intrusions.
He explained that, given the increasing availability of complex tools using artificial intelligence technology to criminal actors and terrorist organizations, it is expected that a new wave of precise attacks will sweep away entities that are not equipped with the necessary tools to detect such multi-faceted cyber attacks.
The Council warned of the importance of preserving personal data and not disclosing it through fake links or anonymous messages, except through official methods only, and being careful in dealing with messages received via e-mail, and not opening links except after fully verifying their authenticity.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cybersecurity Council, confirmed that all national task forces continue to work to fortify the country’s digital space, protect the digital infrastructure in accordance with best international practices and standards, and deter anyone who dares to harm the nation’s security and capabilities.
He said that the UAE possesses a highly advanced digital infrastructure capable of dealing with different types of cyberattacks with great flexibility and responding to them proactively, efficiently, and within record time.
It is worth noting that electronic “ransomware” attacks are malicious programs that infect various electronic devices and encrypt and lock their data, such that they cannot be accessed except after paying a certain amount of money via specific digital currencies.
Like any cyber attack, this type of attack has financial repercussions. It costs institutions around the world hundreds of millions of dollars annually.
