On this day, January 23, 1949, marks the birth anniversary of the distinguished artist Ahmed Rateb. He is an Egyptian actor, born in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood in Cairo.

He began his artistic career as a child, practicing acting in school. His talent grew when he joined the university’s acting troupe while studying at the Faculty of Engineering, but he did not complete his studies there. He preferred to join the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, from which he obtained a Bachelor’s degree. He started out on television, then worked in the Vanguard Theater, and his performances were characterized by simplicity and lack of affectation, and he was more famous for his comedic works.

 

 

It formed a common denominator for most youth films. Modern, and the artist Ahmed Rateb is considered one of the most brilliant artists who played comic roles for society. He has many distinctive roles that have been firmly established in the minds of the viewer, such as his role in the series " “Money and children” Where he embodied the character of Al-Sahat, and also the role of Al-Kahit, the famous character created by the late writer Ahmed Ragab, drawn by Mustafa Hussein, and presented by Ahmed Ratib dramatically, transforming it from a caricature into an influential dramatic character.

 

 

His distinguished television works also include the series “Al-Sirah Al-Hilaliyya”, “Hind and Dr. Noman”, "My heart is my guide", Adel Imam sought the help of Ahmed Rateb in most of his theatrical and cinematic works that left an imprint on the viewer, and the number of films that brought them together reached approximately 19 films, including “One for One.” And the "terrorist" And "birds of darkness" And “The Embassy in Architecture” And one play is the play “The Leader”. And one series that was the conclusion of their cooperation, “Professor and Head of Department” In 2015.

 

 

He married his cousin, “Vera Youssef.” He has three daughters, including: “Lamia, Lubna and Lamis.” He won the Radio and Television Festival Award for the series " Umm Kulthum" He was able to perform the role of Al-Qasabji, and his last cinematic work was " phobia " Which was completely filmed and shown in 2017. He passed away on the morning of Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the age of 67, after suffering a severe heart attack.
