The suspension of the official moves of the United Nations in the areas under the control of the de facto authorities in Sanaa

Farhan Haq Haq, a United Nations deputy spokesman, said that the suspension of official moves would remain valid until further notice. He stated that United Nations officials in Yemen are actively communicating with the senior representatives of the de facto authorities, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all United Nations employees and its partners.
Hans Grendberg, the United Nations special envoy to Yemen, had visited Sana’a early this month, and in all his discussions, Ansar Allah, urged the release of detainees from the United Nations, NGOs, civil society and diplomatic missions immediately and without registration or condition.
He stressed that arbitrary arrests are unacceptable and constitute a violation of international law. Grendberg has visited the family of a colleague who was arbitrarily detained by Ansar Allah since June 2024. He expressed his sincere sympathy and sympathy for what they incurred in this difficult period, confirming his support for them.
Grendberg briefed the family on the United Nations efforts to release all arbitrary detainees. He also expressed his solidarity with the families of other detainees, aware of their common suffering and the urgent need to release their loved ones.
The special envoy added “We have to protect the role of civil society and humanitarian workers. They make vital contributions to achieve peace and rebuild Yemen.”
