Under the directives of Mansour bin Zayed…the Emirates Cup for Arabian Endurance Horses begins "Sunday"

Abu Dhabi, January 25 / WAM / Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chief of the Presidential Court, the Emirates Cup for Arabian Horses for Endurance, over a distance of 100 km, will begin at 6:30 am tomorrow, Sunday.
The first race of its kind dedicated to Arabian horses is organized by the Emirates Arabian Horse Association and the Emirates International Endurance Village, in cooperation with the Equestrian and Racing Federation, on the fields of the Emirates International Village in Al Wathba, with the participation of equestrian clubs and stables in the country.
The initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan comes as an extension of the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in paying attention to Arabian horses, and the state’s continued keenness to encourage and care for Arabian horses and take care of their breeding, in a way that contributes to raising and elevating their status and confirming their presence in all… World races and activities.
The race was divided into 4 stages. The first was 35 kilometers long and was marked in blue, followed by a 50-minute compulsory rest. Then the second stage was 25 kilometers long and was marked in yellow, followed by a 40-minute compulsory rest. Then the third was 20 kilometers long. It is marked in red colors, followed by a compulsory rest for 40 minutes, and the fourth and final stage, which is 20 kilometers long. Illustrated in white colours.
A veterinary examination was conducted on the participating horses today, Saturday, to ensure that they conform to the specifications specified according to the conditions of the race. It was decided that the age of the participating horse should be 6 years or older, and the maximum limit for the horse’s pulse should be 64 beats per minute. It was also decided that the minimum weight of the rider should be 60 kilograms, with Saddle.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Court, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, for his directives. His Highness decided to hold an endurance race for Arabian horses.
He said that this initiative comes within the framework of His Highness’s continued support and great interest in purebred Arabian horses, caring for them and raising their status in various countries of the world, enhancing their presence in the most important international events and races, and working to expand their base of spread.
He stressed that holding an endurance race for Arabian horses enhances the high status of Arabian horses and encourages those interested in all their activities to preserve their rare breeds. It also enhances the fields and activities of Arabian horses and draws attention to the qualities of ability, endurance and running over long distances.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad expressed his hope that this initiative would contribute to opening new horizons for owners, breeders and trainers of Arabian horses, and raise the spirit of fair competition among them, the ultimate outcome of which would be to strengthen the country’s position and its ability to innovate more activities.
