DUBAI, 6 FEBRUARY / WAM / Dutchwoman Lorena Wiebes continued her brilliance in the fourth edition of the Emirates Women’s Tour 2026, sponsored by Abu Dhabi Ports Group, after winning the second Dubai stage, with a strong performance in the stage that started from the Dubai Police Academy in Umm Suqeim, passing through the most prominent landmarks of the Emirate of Dubai, and arriving at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University.
The SDWorks star covered the race distance of 145 kilometers in a time of 3 hours, 38 minutes and 44 seconds, ahead of Italian Chiara Consoni from the Canyon-Sram Zondakrypto team, who came in second, while Dutch Ninke Veenhoven from the Visma Les Abike team came in third place.
After the end of the stage, Lorena Whipps kept the red jersey, sponsored by Abu Dhabi Ports Group, as the leader of the overall standings, and the green jersey, sponsored by Mubadala, allocated to the leader of the standings in points. British Zoe Buxted, star of the Canyon // SRAM Zondakrypto team, also kept the white jersey for the best young female racer, sponsored by Burjeel Holding, while Sarah Luccon from the Top Girls Vasa Bortolo team won the black jersey, designated as the leader of the medium speed stage, sponsored by Aldar.
The launch of the second phase was witnessed by Brigadier General Dr. Sultan Abdul Hamid Al Jamal, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Assistant Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Council.
His Excellency Saeed Hareb said: We are proud of the great success achieved by the Dubai stage of the Emirates Women’s Tour, which, since its launch in 2023, has continued to consolidate its position on the map of international races, becoming in a short period of time a prominent event on the global cycling agenda. We are pleased to continue the fruitful cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in organizing this event, which embodies a wonderful national model of institutional integration between sports councils in the Emirates.
The owner of the red and green jerseys, Lorena Whipps, who won two stages in a row, said: I felt a little nervous at the end today, and I was not sure of my ability to start the final sprint. This happened because the pace was slow during the last 20 km, which allowed everyone to go at full speed in the last 5 km, especially with the transition from wide to narrow roads, and there were a lot of variables.
She added: We were targeting the turn 1.2 kilometers from the finish line, but we were not in the right position, as well as when entering the last turn 600 meters from the finish. However, I continued to trust my colleague Barbara, and in the end we moved forward and the sprint started early.
The T-shirt winners were crowned by His Excellency Dr. Mansour Al Awar, President of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Assistant Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Colonel Abdullah Al Marri, Director of the Events and Processions Department at the Dubai Police.
