President of the Camel Federation in Morocco: Al Dhafra Festival is a global heritage icon

Al Dhafra, 25 January / WAM / Omar Al Bardiji, President of the General Federation of Camel Racing in the Kingdom of Morocco, confirmed that the Al Dhafra Festival is a heritage icon and a source of inspiration for all those interested in camel races around the world.

Al-Bardiji said in statements on the sidelines of his attendance at the camel auctioneering competitions at the closing leg of the 18th session of the Al Dhafra Festival, which was held today at the Al Mazayna site in Madinat Zayed, that the Al Dhafra Festival is an exceptional opportunity to learn closely about the outstanding achievements that the UAE has achieved in various types of auctions, which allows us Gaining valuable experience and contributing to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of camel racing and camel auctions.

The President of the Moroccan Camel Racing Federation expressed his thanks to all those responsible for the Al Dhafra Festival for the excellent organization and generous hospitality.

The auction witnessed a competition and challenge between the camel owners participating in the rounds of Sun Al-Mafarid Al-Talad and Al-Sharika, which took place in 6 rounds for the local and Al-Majahim camels.

The announcement of the auction results was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, His Excellency Omar Al Bardiji, President of the General Federation of Camel Racing in the Kingdom of Morocco, and his accompanying delegation, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Acting Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Executive Director. Acting for the Awareness and Heritage Knowledge Sector in the Authority, and a gathering of camel owners and the public Auctioneers and festival visitors.

Omar Al-Bardiji and Obaid Khalfan Al-Mazrouei were crowned winners of the rounds, which recorded the participation of 254 local and Majahim camels, and 60 prizes worth 1,730,000 dirhams were allocated to them.

This morning, the camels participating in the Al-Mafarid rounds entered the mating races for the tribesmen for the local and Al-Majahim categories, in preparation for presenting them to the relevant committees, with the results being announced tomorrow afternoon.

The Al-Majahim Mall competition will continue in two halves (Al-Majahim Al-Sharaya and the open round) and will continue at the Al-Majahim Mall field on Al-Million Street until January 29.

The organizing committee allocated 20 prizes to the winners of the two halves, with a total of 600,000 dirhams, with 10 prizes for each half, worth 300,000 dirhams.

Today, a number of students from New York University in Abu Dhabi visited the festival activities, and during a tour of the Mazayna grid, they learned about the judging mechanism and competition standards for camels, and they followed some of the activities through the main platform of the Mazayna.
