“Belize” removes the image of Queen Elizabeth from the banknotes

The state of Blaise, in North Central America, took an important step towards removing what it called the British “remnants of colonialism”, by replacing the late image of Queen Elizabeth on the papers of the dollar with pictures of national heroes in the small coastal state on the Caribbean.
During the disclosure of the new design of banknotes, the governor of the Central Bank in Blaise, Karim Michael, said that in addition to improving security and advantages of combating forgery, “the new banknotes also allow us to identify and celebrate our heritage and the rich history of the state of Belize.”
The circulation of new banknotes will begin next June, and instead of the queen’s image, the new banknotes of 100 and 20 and five dollars will carry the image of George Kadel Price, who was the first prime minister of the state in Central America, and is the leader of independence from British rule.
Class 50 and 10 and dollars will bear the image of Philip Goldson, one of the founding members of the main political parties in the country, the “United People’s Party” and the “United Democratic Party”, and is celebrated as a national hero.
“The new photos embody our patriotic heroes who symbolize our resistance,” said Prime Minister Blaise, Johnny Brigsino.
Speaking to the local media, he added: “I know that some people will say we do not have the queen (on the banknote).”
“While the main reason behind this change was to integrate technological progress in the new banknotes to increase the advantages of safety and durability, it is another way for us to remember the sacrifices of those who preceded us.” He said: “Every time we look at the faces of our national heroes on our work New we see history, see leadership, and see the great work that led us to where we are today. ”
There was a mixed general reaction to the new banknotes, as some questioned the need for re -design, while others expressed concern about the influence of the value of the Blisen dollar. On the “Guardian”
