For the first time in the region, Abu Dhabi hosts the European Basketball League finals
Abu Dhabi, January 28 / WAM / The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the European Basketball League and Union Arena signed a cooperation agreement whereby the emirate will host for the first time in the region the European Basketball League under the auspices of Turkish Airlines during the month of May in the Union Arena on Yas Island.
This agreement, which comes in coordination with the strategic partner of the “IMG” league, is a great expansion of the tournament towards new international markets, invested in its 25 -year sporting legacy.
The league aspires, by organizing the finals in Abu Dhabi, to highlight the “fans’ passion” and its slogan “every important match” against the audience in the Middle East and the world.
His Excellency Saud Abdulaziz Al -Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi said that the emirate has established its position as an incubator for sports creativity and a capital of various sports, the most prominent of which is basketball in the Middle East.
He added that we welcome the European basketball league hosted by the emirate for the first time in the region, and we will provide exceptional experiences, based on our record of organizing the most prominent sports championships, calling on sports fans and fans of fun during their attendance of the “Golden Square” matches in the Federation Arena.
He explained that the European League contributes to the embodiment of Abu Dhabi’s position, an ideal destination for global level sports and competitions, and an attractive platform for basketball stars and its fans alike.

The semi -final matches will start between the best 4 European teams on Friday, May 23, at 7 and 10 pm Emirates time, while the third and final matches will be held on Sunday, May 25, between 6 and 9 pm Emirates time.
