The UAE excels regionally in the transplantation of organs thanks to the program "life"

Dubai, January 28 / WAM / The UAE has made qualitative achievements in the field of donation, transfer and transplantation of human organs and tissues during the year 2024, where the cultivation of 352 members recorded an increase of about 22% compared to the organs planted in 2023, to become the state with the highest rate of use for members in the region, The Gulf Cooperation Council states are at the forefront of the organ transplantation index with 956 members that have been planted since the start of the program in 2017.

His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al -Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Organization Sector at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, during the Arab Health Exhibition and Conference 2025, currently held at the Dubai World Trade Center, revealed that the number of patients who received members donated by others during 2024 amounted to 338 patients, all of which came from 110 donors, which reflects cohesion and humanity among members of society in the UAE, indicating that 187 colleges were cultivated for patients, 100 liver, 39 lungs, 21 hearts, and 3 pancreas, in addition to planting two parts of the liver.

The health authorities in the country worked to employ the advanced capabilities of health and medical cadres, as more than 400 healthcare professionals have been approved to diagnose cerebral deaths, ensuring accurate decisions to determine the extent of the suitability of the donor to the medical procedure in line with the best approved practices.

During the Arab Health Exhibition and Conference 2025, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, in cooperation with the health authorities in the country, reviewed the achievements of the national program for donation and the transplantation of organs and human tissues “Hayat”, on the “UAE Health” national platform.

Health authorities aim to consolidate the culture of organ donation during life or after death, by thwarting and developing national efforts to save patients with members ’failure and improving the quality of their lives, and alleviating the suffering of their families, which contributes to establishing a global leading health system that is in line with the best health standards, embodying a vision. He pointed out that the UAE today has become a leading model in the system of organ donation and its cultivation at the regional and global levels, as it succeeded in building an integrated national program that combines medical excellence and the human dimension, noting that the “Hayat” program is a unique Emirati success program, reflecting the wise leadership vision In developing innovative solutions to health challenges, it embodies the values ​​of giving inherent in society.

Al -Amiri said that what distinguishes our experience in donating and planting organs and human tissues is the integration of the efforts of health institutions and strategic partners in developing an advanced digital system that guarantees the highest standards of transparency and efficiency, with a focus on building a societal culture in support of organ donation, as we witness a qualitative shift in society’s awareness and interaction with The program, which is reflected in the increasing number of registrants and inspiring stories of patients who have regained hope in a new life.

Dr. Ali Al -Obaidli, Chairman of the National Committee for the donation and the transplantation of organs and human tissues, said that the strategy of continuous presence in exhibitions and specialized events resulted in a noticeable increase in the number of registered people in the program, benefiting from the qualitative development witnessed by the health infrastructure in the UAE, noting that the “Hayat” program The fastest growing in this field in the world, as it achieved a growth rate of 41.7% during the last five years, according to the results of the World Organ Donation Conference in the United States.

He explained that this program is an essential pillar in the march of health excellence for the UAE, and embodies its aspirations and continuous successes with all its ambition and hope, and highlights the distinguished achievements achieved by the state in the field of health care, noting that the awareness campaigns organized by the Ministry in cooperation with government and private institutions contributed to Increasing the number of registered in the “Hayat” program, as it reached 31,145 people, which reflects the size of the efforts made to enhance the awareness of members of society of the vital role of the “Hayat” program in saving the life of patients, and supports national visions to achieve a healthy sustainability of a happy society with the quality of life.
