The closure of 29 food facilities in Fujairah during 2024

Al -Fujairah Municipality closed 29 food and health facilities during the past year, as a result of the lack of commitment to health safety requirements and standards, and the commitment of severe health and food abuses that affect public health.
The Director General of the Municipality of Fujairah, Eng. Muhammad Al -Afkhal, stated that the closure decisions came due to multiple and repeated violations, which included the lack of commitment to preserve and display foodstuffs at appropriate temperatures, and the failure of installations officials to implement mandatory health procedures, in addition to neglecting the cleanliness of facilities in terms of floors, bishops And equipment, as well as neglecting the maintenance and cleaning of sewage openings.
Al -Afkha added that the violations also included not training workers in food facilities on best health practices, the absence of necessary licenses, and the presence of damaged introductory boards, in addition to the lack of commitment to diseases prevention of diseases such as wearing masks and gloves, and neglecting the application of physical divergence rules within the facilities.
He explained that during the past year, the Health Control Department carried out 3,1462 inspection visits to food and health facilities, with the aim of ensuring their commitment to the laws and health requirements in force in the emirate, and these rounds resulted in the registration of 1525 warnings, in addition to the closure decisions against facilities that did not abide by health standards.
He pointed out that the inspection tours aim to preserve the general civilizational appearance of the emirate, ensure the provision of safe foodstuffs to consumers, verify the validity of the offered foodstuffs, in addition to controlling any wrong practices that workers in the facilities, and providing instructions and advice to improve their performance.
He stressed that the municipality is keen to implement periodic campaigns on food and health facilities to implement strict standards, and to take the necessary legal measures against violators as soon as any violations are monitored, and stressed that the municipality does not tolerate any facility that threatens the health and safety of consumers.
Al -Afkhah stated that the Fujairah municipality is completely prohibited from any person or body to practice pest control or import and circulation of pesticides without obtaining an official permit from the competent authority, in order to ensure the safety of the population and protect them from the damage of these materials.
She pointed out that the municipal health department is responsible for combating diseases that carry diseases such as mosquitoes, flies, and rodents, with the aim of limiting their spread and reducing the chances of their reproduction, according to international best practices, and these efforts include focusing on vital sites such as beaches, public parks and markets, water treatment plants, Public parks, residential and industrial areas.
He continued: “The municipality is constantly developing health control mechanisms and enhancing the level of awareness among workers in food and health facilities, to ensure the application of best practices that contribute to protecting consumer health and maintaining the safety of society as a whole.”
He stressed the importance of cooperation between the municipality and the owners of the establishments to ensure compliance with the controls and procedures that enhance the quality of the services provided, and contribute to enhancing the emirate’s reputation as a site that adheres to the highest health and safety standards, stressing that the municipality is continuing to implement its supervisory plans according to a specific timetable to ensure the continuity of commitment and achieve the desired goals in Raising the level of public health and quality of life in the emirate.
