For the second month, the consumer confidence index continues to decline in the United States

The US consumer confidence index continued to decline for the second month in a row, according to a report published on Tuesday.
The Independent Convention Board Institute for Economic Studies said that the consumer confidence index declined during the current month to 104.1 points compared to 109.5 points during December, while analysts expected to decline to 10.8 points only.
The institute raised the modified reading of the index during December 4.8 points, but it remained less than its level in November.

Consumers were feeling increasingly confident even two months ago, and they spent heavily during the period before the Christmas and New Year holiday season.
The Consumer Confidence Index measures Americans’ evaluation of both the current economic conditions, and their future view of the next six months.
