Atef Naguib, son of Khaaleh Bashar Al -Assad, who is accused of igniting the spark of Syrian protests

The Syrian authorities announced today, Friday, the arrest of Atef Naguib, the former security official in the Bashar al -Assad regime, who is accused of igniting the spark of protests in Syria in 2011.

Syrian television said that the General Security Forces arrested Brigadier Atef Naguib, head of the Political Security Branch in Daraa, who is the son of Aunt Bashar al -Assad

An informed media source revealed that Atef’s arrest was carried out by a special operation carried out by the General Security in Lattakia countryside.

Syrian activists and journalists posted a picture of Naguib on social media, who said it documented the moments after his arrest.

Atef Najib is the most prominent officer in the Assad regime, and he was a major reason in the first spark of the Syrian revolution, when he was head of the Political Security Branch in Daraa Governorate.

And Najib is the son of Khaleal Bashar al -Assad, and the first officer demanded the demonstrations of the beginning of the revolution to topple him and hold him accountable.

The protest movement started in Daraa on March 15 after the arrest of 15 students suspected of writing anti -regime slogans on the city’s walls.

The students were subjected to torture and uprooted their nails, according to the residents at the time, and they accused Naguib of being behind that.
