Arab League: Harmony between religions is a basic principle for achieving sustainable development

Cairo, February 2/ WAM/ The League of Arab States has emphasized that harmony between religions is not just a slogan, but rather a basic principle for achieving sustainable development and building global peace, expressing its commitment to support efforts to enhance dialogue between cultures and religions.

This came in a statement issued today on the occasion of the world’s celebration in the first week of February of each year with a week of international harmony between religions, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly under Resolution No. 65/5 on October 20, 2010.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States announced its full commitment to support the activities of the “World Harmony Week between Religions”, which is celebrated annually at the beginning of February.

Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary -General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, stressed the importance of this international initiative in promoting interfaith and culture dialogue and building bridges of understanding between followers of various beliefs.

Abu Ghazaleh explained that the Arab League is striving to support peaceful coexistence in Arab societies, based on its belief that religious and cultural diversity is an element of strength and wealth for the Arab nation, calling on all member states and governmental and non -governmental institutions to support this global initiative and work together to enhance the values ​​of tolerance, mutual respect and construction A future blessed with peace and harmony.
