The United Nations emphasizes the importance of the Human Rights Council and UNRWA

This came in response to a question at the daily press conference about what was reported about US President Donald Trump’s intention to signing executive orders this week regarding the withdrawal of the Human Rights Council and preventing any future financing for UNRWA.

UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric said: “We will see, of course, what will be signed. The United States will make the decisions to be taken, and this does not change our position towards the importance of the Human Rights Council as part of the human rights structure within the United Nations.”

As for what is reported regarding the executive order to prevent future funding for UNRWA, Dujarik said that the issue is not new and does not change the United Nations commitment to supporting the agency’s work in providing necessary services to the Palestinians according to its mandate.
