Dubai, February 6 / WAM / The main plan for the city of Expo Dubai obtained the initial accreditation of two of the most important social and environmental sustainability systems internationally recognized, in a precedent of the first of its kind at the level of the Middle East and North Africa, which enhances the city’s position as an innovative and sustainable urban center in The area.

This achievement proves the commitment of the city of Expo to develop an urban society led by innovation and enhance social, environmental and economic sustainability, in addition to providing an urban environment of high quality of life for residents and visitors.

The city of Expo Dubai obtained a Platinum “LID” certificate for cities and societies, which is the highest classification of “Energy and Environmental Design” system, which is the most used in the classification of buildings and cities globally.

And the “ID” certificate focuses on totalitarianism, economic development, and the preservation of the environment, which reflects the city’s commitment to applying best sustainability practices in design and construction.

In addition, the city has achieved the requirements of the “Will Community” certificate, an international standard that focuses on health and luxury and is the pioneer in assessing the healthy and sustainable buildings environment.

Expo Dubai aims to obtain the golden “Will Community” certificate, which reflects its commitment to ensuring the health and welfare of its residents and visitors by improving air quality, water, nutrition, lighting and individuals movement, through a comprehensive environmental design.

With this achievement, the city of Expo Dubai becomes the only urban center in the Middle East and North Africa region, which meets the criteria of these two systems in the field of environmental and social sustainability, as this is the first project in the region that officially gets the adoption of “Will Komionte”.

This accreditation was announced at the “Future of Cities” forum, which was held today and concludes its work tomorrow in the city of Expo.

Ahmed Al -Khatib, CEO of Real Estate Development and Delivery in Expo, said that the main plan for the city of Expo is based on the principles of sustainable development, and we are proud to recognize this commitment globally at a time when we are in the stages of implementing the plan.

He added that achieving the criteria and requirements of the “ID” and “Will Komionte” certificates confirms that we are going on the right path to achieve our ambitious goals to enhance the city’s position as a modern urban center in the heart of Dubai.

He said that the unique characteristics and benefits of the city of Expo, which highlights through the great demand for its real estate projects, including commercial leasing, residential projects and lands for sale.

The new dependence also indicates the distinguished opportunities provided by the main plan of the city, which focuses mainly on the human and the environment. The plan takes advantage of the strategic location of the city of Expo Dubai in the Dubai South region, near the Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and the Dubai Exhibition Center, which makes it an attractive point for investors and developers. The main plan for the city of Expo Dubai is characterized by five areas designed to be an effective urban network, which ensures the ease of movement and access through various paths, in addition to a network of green and blue spaces that include parks and water bodies, in addition to roads and small rails. The city focuses on enhancing sustainable movement through low carbon transportation, as well as providing an environment that stimulates walking, cycling and small means of mobility. The goals of the main plan for the city of Expo Dubai also include protecting and increasing biological diversity, as well as reducing energy consumption and increasing clean energy. The plan also includes reducing water consumption and expanding alternative water sources, which contributes to enhancing natural resources efficiency and applying innovative strategies to deal with water and energy. On the construction level, the plan aims that all buildings in the city get a minimum golden certificate, as the city of Expo includes Dubai, including the Dubai Exhibition Center and the Expo village, 123 buildings with a “ID” certificate, which reflects the city’s commitment By achieving an environmental sustainability in all its projects. Expo Dubai is preparing to become one of the main centers in the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, as it will attract sectors that pay the Dubai Economic Agency (D33), and cover a total area of ​​3.5 square kilometers.

It is expected that the city will receive about 35 thousand residents and 40,000 employees in companies that will be taken from the city.
