Chairman " ICAO" It emphasizes the importance of international cooperation to achieve sustainable aviation goals

Abu Dhabi, February 10/ WAM/ Salvatori Skatcheitano, Chairman of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) stressed the importance of international cooperation to enhance the safety, security and sustainability of the civil aviation sector.

During his opening speech, Scatchitano expressed the fourth edition of the “Fourth ICAO symposium to support implementation 2025” that the UAE hosted for his gratitude to the UAE government for hosting the symposium, noting in this regard the efforts of His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy, and His Excellency Saif Muhammad Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation The success of this event, which is a platform to enhance joint action between member states and international organizations.

He pointed to the initiatives launched by the “ICAO” during the past three years to support the goals of member states in the areas of safety, security and sustainability, explaining that the transformation witnessed by the organization through the establishment of the “Capacity Building Office and Support of Implementation”, reflects its commitment to implementing the strategy of “not leaving any country behind the knees Which has become a strategic goal and not just an initiative as it was referred to in the past.

He explained that this initiative aims to ensure that member states achieve safety, security and sustainability standards in civil aviation evenly, while providing the necessary support to countries facing challenges in implementing these standards and added that the council has adopted an action plan for the period 2026-2050 that takes into account this goal, which reflects A major shift in the organization’s approach to support implementation.

He stressed that this transformation requires sustainable financing, explaining that “ICAO” has received financial support exceeding $ 25 million during the past three years of countries and donors and called for continuing to invest in these efforts by adopting a new budget that enhances the organization’s ability to support member states.

He said that the symposium discusses major issues that include sustainability, enhancing training capabilities and the use of artificial intelligence in organizing aviation, with a focus on its role in improving operational and organizational systems and highlighting the importance of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, pointing to the historical agreement reached during the COP28 conference that which is Supports the shift towards a sustainable flying future.

He praised the “Sustainable Aviation Market” initiative that was launched in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the UAE and aims to review innovations and enhance cooperation between the parties concerned to support the goals of reducing emissions and enhancing clean energy.

At the end of his speech, Salvatori Skatcheitano stressed the “ICAO” commitment to joint work with member states to achieve safer, safe, and sustainable civilian flight, expressing his hope that these efforts will contribute to achieving tangible progress towards common goals.
