65 cinema house with more than 636 screens distributed in the regions of the Kingdom
The Ministry of Culture played a pivotal role in this development by launching strategic initiatives.
Film industry in Saudi Arabia
These initiatives aim to build a prosperous cinematic industry that reflects the Kingdom’s cultural identity and supports the national economy.
The Ministry of Culture revealed the spread of 65 cinema houses with more than 636 screens distributed in the regions of the Kingdom during 2024, issued by the Riyadh region by about 28 theater and 276 screens.
Then came the Makkah Al -Mukarramah region in the governorates of Jeddah and Taif, 13 theater and 142 screens, then the eastern region with 12 theater and 109 screens.
Development of the film sector in Saudi Arabia
The Film Authority of the Ministry of Culture launched a strategic strategic film development strategy for the development of the film sector in 2021.
It is based on six basic pillars: (Supporting film production locally – and enhancing the demand for Saudi films in local and international markets – attracting global photography productions in the Kingdom – finding an organizational environment in support of the development of the sector – developing talents and human capabilities – providing the necessary facilities and services at a competitive cost).
This strategy also includes 19 initiatives and 46 projects, all of which aim to create a major movement in the Kingdom’s film sector, provide infrastructure for production, and enable Saudi talents.

Red Sea International Film Festival
The Kingdom also hosted the International Red Sea Film Festival, which is a platform to support the local film sector and enrich cinematic content.
The festival receives all types of cinematic, television and interactive films, Arab and international, and the Ministry of Culture sought to attract international cinematic productions for photography in the Kingdom.
This is by providing financial incentives of up to 40% of production costs, and developing an advanced infrastructure, such as the establishment of modern studios complexes in Al -Ula, which made the Kingdom an attractive destination for international films.
