Prime Minister of Latvia: UAE investments contribute to enhancing economic growth in Latvia

Dubai, February 12 / WAM / His Excellency Evica Celina, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between her country and the United Arab Emirates, noting that there are large areas of joint cooperation, especially in the sectors of technology, artificial intelligence and tourism.
Her Excellency, in her interview with Emirates News Agency “WAM” on the sidelines of her participation in the activities of the World Summit of Governments 2025 held in Dubai, said that Emirati investments in her country contribute to enhancing economic growth, considering that Emirati investors will be “ambassadors for security and stability” through their partnerships with Latavian economy.
She added that the economic relations between the UAE and Latvia are growing at an accelerated pace, stressing the importance of knowing the future of the Emirates, especially in light of the Latvia website as a member of the European Union, which provides opportunities for close cooperation with the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
She pointed to the presence of common denominators between the UAE and Latvia, where the two countries are working to enhance cooperation between the government and the business sector and scientists, and said that some Latvian companies have already started building partnerships inside the Emirates, while “Eagle Hills”, one of the largest Emirati companies, invests in Latvia to Next to a number of Emirati businessmen.
She explained that Latvia, as a small country within the European Union, has flexibility and speed in making political and economic decisions, which makes it an ideal gate for Gulf countries entering European markets.
Her Excellency, who is visiting the Emirates for the first time as prime minister, praised the global government summit, noting that she accompanied a delegation that includes ministers and representatives of the private sector and scientists, in a move that reflects the identity of Latvia that combines these three components to enhance development, and said that she met with His Excellency Abdullah bin Al -Marri, Minister of Economy, and His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection, along with a number of representatives of the private sector, where they discussed cooperation in various fields.
She noted the great opportunities in the tourism sector, stressing that Latvia sees in Dubai a favorite destination for the citizens of her country, especially in the winter, which opens the door to strengthening the bilateral tourist movement.
She said that Latvia has a picturesque nature and a moderate summer atmosphere similar to Dubai weather during this period of the year, noting the great potential in environmentally friendly tourism, which makes it an ideal destination for Emirati tourists looking for a different experience.
She pointed out that Riga, the capital of Latvia, owns the largest airport in the Baltic region, which facilitates direct flights between the two countries and supports tourism exchange.
On technology and artificial intelligence, Latvia Prime Minister said that she met with His Excellency Omar Sultan Al -Ulama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Labor Applications, Vice President of the World Summit on Governments, where she highlighted the important role that artificial intelligence and technology play in bilateral relations, noting that one Emerging Latvian companies won the Dubai Grand Prix of Artificial Intelligence, and is currently working in the field of developing systems to improve the health care sector.
Her Excellency stated that her country has a strong scientific and technological base in the areas of huge data and data transmission, as it is classified as Latvia among the countries most used for digital data in the OECD Economic Cooperation and Development Organization.
She explained that Latvia scientists have succeeded in developing data to transfer data five times faster than traditional systems, which constitutes a great opportunity for partnership with the UAE in the advanced technology sector.
On her expectations for economic growth in Latvia, His Excellency Selena confirmed that her country is not only focused on the indicators of GDP, but rather seeks to improve the quality of life for its citizens.
She said that there are countries that have a high local product, but the quality of life for its citizens is not at the required level, so the Latvia government prefers to adopt a comprehensive approach that takes into account the welfare of society as well as traditional economic indicators.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia praised the efforts made by the UAE in the field of empowering women, noting that during the World Government Summit, she listened to presentations and reports that highlighted the advanced policies adopted by the UAE in this field, such as allocating stakes for women in the Federal National Council and government companies, What makes this file a possible areas of cooperation between the two countries.
