Emirati digital education initiatives in Africa contribute to the rehabilitation of the continent’s youth

Dubai, February 13 / WAM / Mengustab Haley, chief adviser to the UAE “Digital School” initiative in Africa, confirmed that the UAE is invested greatly in developing digital education in the African continent, with the aim of preparing young people for a future that increases on digital skills, as well as contributing to Reducing unemployment rates.
Haley said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, that the main challenge in Africa today is to create job opportunities and prepare future generations for the labor market, stressing that without advanced digital education, young people will not be ready for the requirements of the future.
He added that the UAE succeeded in achieving this locally, and that it focuses on supporting the African continent through the digital school initiative, explaining that its efforts on the ground began to bear fruit; A number of memoranda of understanding were signed with the ministries of education in several African countries.
“We already have more than 10 African countries that signed the agreements, and our goal is to cover the entire continent.”
He stressed that the initiative is not limited to digital education only, but also includes developing skills, which reflects the UAE vision in combining education and developing capabilities to ensure a better future for African youth, pointing to the launch of a new program to develop skills in cooperation with the UAE government, based on the conviction that education is It is not enough, and it is necessary to provide practical training to prepare the next generation to lead Africa towards the future.
Regarding the role of artificial intelligence in improving education, Hayley explained that modern technology can block the large gaps that some African countries suffer from, such as the lack of teachers and textbooks.
He expressed his hope that artificial intelligence will help overcome traditional challenges such as the lack of schools, teachers and books, stressing that through the development of curricula with the help of artificial intelligence, it is possible to deliver education to remote villages and enable students to learn in more interactive and effective ways.
