Dubai is achieving the lowest electricity period in the world during 2024

The Managing Director, CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority «Diwa), Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, has announced that the authority achieved the lowest period of electricity in the world, as it recorded only average of 0.94 minutes for each subscriber annually in 2024, to break the number it achieved in 2023 and that reached 1.06 minutes, compared to 15 minutes for a group of electricity companies in the European Union countries.

He said: «We continue to develop the electricity and water infrastructure in Dubai with relying on innovation, which we adopt a major approach to facilities management via a smart and interconnected network to provide our services according to the highest quality, availability, reliability, efficiency and sustainability standards, in support of Dubai Urban Plan 2040, and Dubai Economic Agency (D33) that It seeks to consolidate Dubai’s position among the three best economic cities around the world. ”

He added: «We succeeded in reducing the rate of power outages for each subscriber in Dubai from 6.88 minutes annually in 2012 to only 0.94 minutes in 2024, which confirms our leadership in innovation, and the adoption of the latest replacement technologies for the fourth industrial revolution to enhance the authority’s flexibility and readiness to keep pace with the increasing demand for electricity and water in Dubai”.

Al -Tayer explained that «the smart network implemented by the authority in stages with investments of seven billion dirhams until 2035, is one of the tools that contributed to achieving this achievement, as it provides advanced characteristics that help enhance the efficiency of energy transport and distribution, and reduce losses.

He said: «Among the programs that we launched under the umbrella of the smart network is the system of restoring the automated smart network, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, to increase control, management and monitoring of the energy network from a distance and around the clock without any human intervention, and depends on central systems Smart and innovative, to determine the location of the disabled in the power network, isolate it and restore service automatically. ”

It is noteworthy that the authority won two prizes within the “Asia Energy Awards” for the year 2024 in Singapore, and won the award for “Best Innovative Energy Technology for the Year – UAE” for the “Actual Electrical Cemul ingredient” project for the distribution network, and the “Smart Network Project for the Year – Emirates” award On projects to automate the smart network for distribution stations.
