The northern border places the Kingdom among the largest global phosphate producers

The northern border region in the Kingdom is abundant with a low -capacity of 4,669 trillion riyals.
It is part of latent in Saudi lands, the Kingdom seeks to explore and exploit it; Mining is an important source of income diversification of the national economy, according to the “Vision 2030” targets.

Phosphate in the northern border region

The region is a major home in the Kingdom, which is an important element in achieving local and global food security, because of its importance in the manufacture of agricultural fertilizers.
Phosphate production projects are placed in the city of Waad Al -Shamal; Saudi Arabia is in the ranks of the largest producing and exporting countries of phosphate around the world.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Jarrah bin Muhammad Al -Jarrah, explained that the northern border region is rich in specific metal materials.
It was stated that it includes phosphate, coal, dolomite, limestone and silica sand, indicating that the estimated value of mining resources in the region is 4.6 trillion riyals.

5 sites for phosphate ore reserves

The surgeon indicated that the area includes 5 sites for phosphate ore reserves and 29 in valid mining licenses, including 15 licenses for building material quarries projects and 14 exploitation licenses.
With regard to the industrial sector in the northern border region, the Ministry’s spokesperson indicated that the region has a varied industrial base, as the number of factories has 61 factories.
Industrial facilities are focused in three main cities in the region, namely Arar, Tarif and Rafha, indicating that the most prominent industrial sectors include the manufacture of building materials products, the food products industry, and the chemical products industry.

Mining wealth in Saudi Arabia

The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al -Khuraif, visits the northern border region, on Sunday, to see industrial and development projects that enhance the position of the region and the city of Waad Al -Shamal for Mining Industries as a pioneering center in the mining industry in the Kingdom.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to stimulate local and international investments in this sector and enhance its role as a basic engine to diversify the national economy in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
