“The Ministry of Health” holds a forum of artificial intelligence ethics in the health care sector

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection organized the Forum for Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Applications in the health sector in cooperation with strategic partners, the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, the Dubai Health Authority, Emirates University, and Mohammed bin Zayed University for artificial intelligence and other parties, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Organization Sector, Dr. Amin Hussein Al -Amiri , And officials from government departments and health and academic institutions in the country.

The Forum discussed the current capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence in the health sector in the country, and reviewed the draft of the moral framework of artificial intelligence applications developed by the National Center for Health Research in cooperation with strategic partners, which aims to ensure the protection and participation of personal data safely, and to achieve transparency in the use of artificial intelligence applications, in addition to Quality and credibility guarantee, enhancing society’s confidence in advanced technologies, and unifying the criteria for moral use of artificial intelligence in the health sector uniformly at the state level.

The development of this framework comes within the Ministry’s strategy to build a stimulating environment system to support the accelerated technological development of artificial intelligence applications in various fields of health care such as, medical diagnosis, treatment and personal medicine that require adopting and adopting the best ethical standards and practices, to ensure compliance and commitment to the main principles.

In the opening speech, Dr. Amin Al -Amiri stressed that the accelerated digital transformation in the health sector worldwide, and the successive developments in the field of artificial intelligence and its applications, pushes the ministry to keep pace with these transformations as a regulatory and legislative body in the country through the development of organizational frameworks to ensure the optimal and safe performance to use this Technologies achieve the highest quality and safety standards for patients.

He said: “The Ministry of Health and Community Protection, in cooperation with strategic partners, was keen to develop an integrated moral framework based on a group of basic pillars, including the protection of health data, ensuring transparency in the application of artificial intelligence, enhancing the quality and accuracy of the results, and building societal confidence in health technologies Advanced, “which reflects the joint commitment to the development of an integrated health system that places man at the heart of its strategies and initiatives.”

He pointed to the Ministry’s keenness to adhere to the development of an integrated legislative and organizational system that keeps pace with the rapid developments in the field of health technology, especially artificial intelligence applications in health care to ensure the use of the capabilities of artificial intelligence safely, responsible and moral.

The ethical framework for artificial intelligence applications is a qualitative shift to enhance the construction of a stimulating environment system for development in the use of artificial intelligence algorithms, in order to build a leading model in employing artificial intelligence in the areas of health care in a way that enhances the UAE’s position within the countries developed of this technology.
