Egypt responds to a “Lapid proposal” regarding the guardianship of Gaza … “half solutions” and our position is fixed

On Wednesday, Egypt expressed its rejection of any proposals that wrap around the constants of the Egyptian and Arab position and the sound foundations for dealing with the essence of the conflict, which relate to the withdrawal of Israel from the occupied Palestinian territories and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that “the proposals circulated on the future of Gaza are” half solutions “and” contribute to the renewal of the conflict episodes instead of its permanent settlement, “stressing that Egypt’s position is fixed regarding the solution of the Palestinian issue.

In response to inquiries about the proposals circulating about governance during the next stage in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which is the proposal to take over Egypt’s management for a period of time, that “any theses or proposals wrap around the constants of the Egyptian and Arab position, and the sound foundations for dealing with the essence of the conflict, which relate to withdrawal Israel is from the occupied Palestinian territories and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which are rejected and unacceptable theses, as they are Equal solutions that contribute to the renewal of the conflict episodes instead of finally settling it. “

Earlier, the leader of the Israeli opposition, Yair Lapid, presented a plan for the future of Gaza, which he called “the Egyptian solution” based on the imposition of Cairo and its will on the Strip for years, in exchange for granting Egypt political and financial incentives, most notably the payment of its debts.

Lapid said that his plan for the future of Gaza is based on the imposition of temporary guardianship by Egypt on the Strip for a period ranging from 8 to 15 years, with the aim of ensuring security on the southern border of Israel and the reconstruction of the Strip after removing Hamas from the rule.

According to what the Foundation published, Lapid said: “After ten years, the best solution is for Israel to separate from the Palestinians in a way that enhances its security.”

Lapid pointed out that Egypt will be the authority responsible for Gaza after implementing the measures of the current ceasefire agreement, pointing out that Cairo has historical relations with the Strip, as it ruled it between 1948 and 1967.

Lapid stressed that the Egyptian guardianship of Gaza will allow Israel to withdraw without risking the return of Hamas threats, stressing that Egypt will supervise the disarmament of the sector, prevent the smuggling of weapons, and facilitate the travel of Palestinians abroad.
