The UAE presides over the Federation of Arab Courts and Constitutional Councils

Abu Dhabi, February 26 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates hosted the meeting of the Union of Arab Courts and Constitutional Councils, with the participation of a number of Arab countries member states in the Union, where the UAE assumed the periodic presidency of the Federation, represented by the Federal Supreme Court, with the appointment of the Kingdom of Bahrain as Vice -President.

His Excellency Mohamed Hamad Al -Badi, President of the Federal Supreme Court, the President of the Federation in its current session, expressed his hope that the transfer of the presidency of the Federation to the UAE will be a starting point to continue developing cooperation in the field of constitutional judiciary between Arab courts and constitutional councils, in a way that enhances constitutional and judicial cooperation and develops judicial and constitutional thought, to achieve the desired interests of the union countries, stressing the pursuit of welfare and quality of life according to the best standards and constitutional guarantees through Ensuring the rule of law in society.

His Excellency the President of the Federal Supreme Court praised the effective contributions in scientific research and discussions aimed at the members of the Union, and its positive impact on enriching the constitutional, legal and judicial thought, which reflects the development of the judicial principles established by the courts and constitutional councils.

He also praised the strong relations between the members of the Union, and the price of the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Federation and the former heads of the Union.

The Union’s agenda, held in Abu Dhabi during the period from 24 to 27 February, included the meeting of the Executive Council for the seventh session, and the meeting of the General Assembly of the Federation for the twelfth session, where the association’s agenda was reviewed, and the results of the President’s report on activities were reviewed during the last period.

The President of the Federation also presented the General Secretariat note regarding the determination of the Federation’s work program for the next session of the General Assembly in its 13th session, the General Secretariat’s memo regarding the location of the next assembly, as well as strengthening the frameworks of joint cooperation between the courts and Arab constitutional and higher councils, and ways to activate the role of the Arab constitutional judiciary at the regional and international levels, in addition to reviewing the activities of the General Secretariat of the Federation during its current session and future plans.

The chiefs of the courts and their participating deputies appreciated the efforts of the UAE in organizing the meeting, and approved the recommendations that the Executive Office meeting ended.

The meeting was attended by heads of constitutional and supreme courts from Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Yemen and the UAE.
