Umm Al Quwain Chamber hosts the promotional tour of “Make in the Emirates”

Umm Al -Quwain, on February 27/ WAM/ The Umm Al Quwain Chamber hosted today the promotional tour of “Made in the Emirates”, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development and Chamber, and Umm Al Quwain Free Trade Region, in preparation for the fourth version of the “Made in the Emirates” forum scheduled to be held from 19 to 22 May, with the participation of the most prominent government agencies and leading national companies in the industrial sector.
The tour was attended by Sheikh Mansour Ibrahim Al Mualla, Executive Director of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Foundation in Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Abdullah Al Mualla, Advisor to the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, His Excellency Osama Amir Fadel, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry, His Excellency Youssef Khalfan Tahnoun, Vice President of Umm Al Quwain Chamber, His Excellency Aisha Rashid Litem, Chairman of the Women’s Business Council, Umm Al Quwain, member of Umm Al Quwain Chamber, And Engineer Salem Baferg, Vice President of Local Value Value and Industrial Development in “ADNOC”, along with members of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber, factory owners and investors in the emirate.
The introductory tour started with a presentation presented by His Excellency Youssef Tahnoon, in which he reviewed the exceptional achievements achieved by the Umm Al Quwain Chamber during the year 2024 in the investment sector, with the support of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, and the follow -up of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, where he explained that the value of exports and re -exports of members of the Chamber exceeded 15 billion dirhams, with a growth rate 399% compared to 2023.
For his part, His Excellency Osama Fadel stressed that the UAE has achieved prominent achievements in the industrial sector, as it ranks first in the Arab world and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in terms of industrial competitiveness.
He reviewed the most important initiatives launched by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, including the “Maken in the Emirates” initiative, which succeeded in allocating more than 143 billion dirhams of purchases for the benefit of local factories, through more than 31 partners within the national added value program (ICV).
He pointed out that since the launch of the strategy and the initiative, 20 billion dirhams of competitive financing have been allocated to support the industrial sector, which included expansionary projects and new industrial projects, which contributed to the growth of the contribution of the industrial sector in the gross domestic product by 58% in just four years, and industrial exports increased by 63%, reaching 15 billion dirhams.
He added that, thanks to the comprehensive economic partnership agreements (CEPA), many companies began to benefit from, which led to significant growth in the state’s industrial exports.
For his part, Engineer Salem Baferg spoke about the national added value program (ICV), which is supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, stressing that it contributes to strengthening the industrial sector in the UAE by encouraging local manufacturing, attracting foreign direct investments, and diversifying the economy, which leads to providing job opportunities for Emirati citizens in the private sector.
On “Make in the Emirates”, Baferg explained that the next forum, scheduled for May, will be a catalyst for growth, and a platform that brings together all parties concerned for cooperation and innovation and providing new opportunities for all.
He pointed out that the forum will provide an opportunity to meet the largest buyers in the UAE, including “ADNOC”, while providing instructions on how to join its supply chain, and ensuring the compatibility of products and services with international standards.
Mr. Johnson M. George, General Manager of the Free Trade Zone in Umm Al Quwain, is a presentation on the privileges provided by the free zone, as it provides integrated services that include all the facilities necessary to support the investment sector, in addition to providing additional incentives and benefits when manufacturing within the country.
He called for participating in the “Made in the Emirates” forum, stressing that the forum will contribute to achieving great growth for industries and benefiting for all.
Maryam Al -Bastaki and Fatima Hawqal from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology presented a detailed explanation of the “Maken in the Emirates” forum, scheduled for next May, where they reviewed the most important activities that it will include, and the most prominent qualitative partnerships that will be announced.
They explained that the forum focuses on 12 major industrial sectors in the UAE, while highlighting the participation of handicrafts as a priority sector through cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, with the aim of highlighting the Emirati heritage and the role of creative industries in the industrial sector.
The two speakers added that the forum will include a partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center “ADNEC” this year, to expand the scope of access to the market, not only at the local level, but also at the international level, with the aim of strengthening the UAE’s position as a major player in the global industry.
The session was concluded with an intervention from Rawda Al -Hamli from the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center “ADNEC”, in which I talked about the participation of the center in the forum.
The promotional tour also opened the door for questions and inquiries about participating in the forum.
