The Writers Union launches the sixteenth session of the Ghanem Ghobash Award

Abu Dhabi, March 1 / WAM / The UAE Writers Union announced the launch of the sixteenth session of the Ghanem Ghobash Award for the short story, confirming its importance and ancient cultural status since its foundation in 1989, to enhance the spirit of fictional creativity and consolidate the position of the Arabic language in the literary product.

The award bears the name of the late writer and writer Ghanem Ghobash, in appreciation of his cultural and social contributions in the UAE.
Sheikha Al -Jabri, Deputy Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Director of the Abu Dhabi Branch, Secretary -General of the award, stressed the importance of this literary award, which the Emirates Writers and Writers Union is keen to encourage talented young writers from the state’s children, to contribute to their creativity in lighting the Emirati cultural scene with their intellectual product in the narrative side.

The launch of the Writers Union announced a new branch of the Ghanem Ghobash Award, “The Stories Group”, which provides the opportunity for those who write this color of fictional art to participate in this literary challenge, noting that literary competition in such competitions and prizes in the UAE is motivating a president for youth and creators at their various levels and age groups to come with new and innovative ideas that enrich the Emirati cultural scene.

Al -Jabri affirmed the union’s keenness to sustain intellectual and cultural projects and provide the best of works and the opportunity available to creators who are in line with the conditions required to participate in the award.
For his part, Abdel Hamid Ahmed, head of the jury of the Ghanem Ghobash Award, said that the award aims to discover the talented anecdotal energies in the UAE and encourage them to proceed with writing the story, calling on young talents and scratching who find in their work merit to participate in this session, with what their pens contain.
The conditions for participation in the award in the short story category include that the applicant is not less than 18 years old, and that the number of the words of the story ranges between 1000 and 3000 words, and that the story be written in classical Arabic, and originally unpublished, and participation is limited to citizens of the United Arab Emirates, and the stories written in hand are not accepted, and it is not allowed to participate in more than one story, while the UAE writers and writers maintain the right to print and publish The winning works within a special version.

As for the conditions for participating in the award in the category of the anecdotal group, the age of the applicant must not be less than 18 years old, and it is allowed to participate in only one story collection, and that the anecdotal collection be authentic, written in classical Arabic, and that participation is limited to citizens of the United Arab Emirates, and the unpublished anecdotal groups are accepted, as the newly published groups are accepted provided that it has not been published for more than three years, and that they are issued by a publishing house Approved, the anecdotal anthology or combined combinations are not accepted between more than one author.
The award is applied through the award’s website (http://wu.ae/award) As of March 5, provided that the deadline for receiving the posts is next April 10, while the winning works will be announced on the day of the Emirati writer on May 26, 2025.
The Federation devoted cash prizes to the winners of the first three centers for each category, where the first winner in the short story receives 10,000 dirhams, the second place winner at 8000 dirhams, while the value of the third winner award is 5,000 dirhams, and the first winner in the story group category receives 15,000 dirhams, and the second winner receives 10,000 dirhams, while the value of the third winner award is 6000 dirhams.
