America .. expectations to impose customs duties on wood imports

US President Donald Trump ordered, on Saturday, to conduct an investigation into the possibility of imposition, calling for an increase in its production in the United States.
Trump signed a decision calling on the Minister of Trade Howard Lootnick to open an investigation to determine the effects of wood imports and its derivatives on national security.

The investigation may lead to the imposition of new customs duties expected to affect Canada, Germany and Brazil in particular.
The White House accused these countries of flooding the country’s markets at the expense of American economic prosperity and national security.
Canada is one of the most exported wood in the world, and the United States is its largest market.

The decision that Trump signed to hand over a report within 270 days is based on the results of the study of raw wood imports as well as the products derived from them, such as furniture.
On Saturday, Trump signed a second decision aimed at increasing wood production in the United States with the aim of reducing construction and housing costs, but it may lead to a opposite result.
“The customs duties on wood and other building materials increase the cost of construction and frustrate the new projects,” said Carl Harris.
