800 food and beverage companies operating in “Jafza”

The number of companies operating in the food and beverage sector in the free zone in Jabal Ali “Jafza” and the National Industries Complex reached more than 800 companies, as the rate of growth in the number of new companies that started work in “Jafza” reached 14%, during the past year, compared to 2023, and according to data, “Emirates Today” obtained a copy of it, “Jafza” attracted new investments worth 330 million dirhams in one week, during the participation of “Jafza” in the exhibition Food Food 2025 », the largest annual food and beverage exhibitions in the world.

Investments will be built on a rented area of ​​up to 700 thousand square feet, while the port of Jebel Ali deals in general with nearly 73% of the food and beverage trade in the UAE in terms of value.

“Dubai has always played an important role in ensuring access to a variety of food products in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and with our progress forward, our interest is focused on enhancing local production capabilities to strengthen food security more.”

He added: «On the sidelines of (Glevoud) we signed several main agreements that will pump more than 330 million dirhams into new investments in Dubai, which strengthens the emirate’s position as a leading position in the field of food manufacturing and trade.”

He indicated that one of the agreements will work to address more than 65 thousand metric tons of basic components, such as legumes, spices, and nuts, while another will act as a production center for a global restaurant series, including cloud kitchens and retail partners.

“Today, more than 800 food and beverage companies work in (Javza) and (the National Industries Complex), which contributes greatly to the food sector.”

He added: “With the expansion of our integrated food and drink system, the Port of Jebel Ali remains at the heart of our efforts, as it deals with nearly three quarters of the food trade in the UAE in terms of value.”

“By uniting the stakeholders and partners in the ecosystem of business in the food and beverage sector, we are working to create a more prepared supply chain for the future, support our national and regional priorities in the field of food, and enhance sustainable growth in the long run.”

Javza is the leading area among all free areas of the Dubai Ports World Group, in addition to being the largest customs area in the Middle East.

The number of companies that witnessed the beginnings of “Javza” during 1985 is summed up in 19 companies, bringing the number to more than 500 companies in 1995, now up to more than 10 thousand and 700 companies by the end of 2023, of which 100 from the “Fortune” list for the best 500 companies in the world.

Javza is also a vital base for thousands of companies from more than 150 countries, providing more than 130 thousand jobs, and attracts 23.9% of foreign direct investments in Dubai.
