2.94 billion dollars in the current account surplus in Korea in January

Seoul on March 7/ WAM/ The Republic of Korea recorded a surplus in the current account for the twenty -first month in January, with the support of strong exports and the growing trade surplus, according to the Central Bank of Korea’s data issued today, Friday.
The Korean News Agency (Yonhap) stated that the country’s running excess of $ 2.94 billion in January, after a surplus of $ 12.37 billion in the previous month, according to the data collected by the Bank of Korea.
The commodity account recorded a surplus of $ 2.5 billion, to record a surplus of the twenty -second month in a row.
The surplus with export growth was 9.1% on an annual basis to 49.81 billion dollars, while imports decreased by 6.2% to 47.31 billion dollars per month.
The Central Bank of Korea said that during the year 2024, the country recorded a surplus in the current account of $ 99.04 billion, which represents a sharp increase in the surplus of $ 32.82 billion in the previous year.
