King Farouk’s grandson returns to Egypt away from the limelight

Prince Muhammad Ali abandoned a comfortable life in Paris to achieve his dream of returning to Egypt, which was ruled by his grandfather, King Farouk, hoping to preserve the family’s legacy.

Despite his birth in Cairo, Muhammad Ali was forced to wait years before he was able to obtain an Egyptian passport in 2020.
His father, Fouad II, the last king of Egypt, was determined that his son was born on Egyptian lands despite the family’s presence in exile. “That was my father’s strong desire,” he said.
