The American company, “Loding Econometrics”, which specializes in the real estate consulting sector, reported that the number of hotel projects is “under construction and planning” in Dubai to 52 hotel projects with a capacity of 14.5 thousand rooms, at the end of the last quarter of last year.

The company stated that hotel projects are under construction in the UAE market as a whole, reaching 95 hotel establishments, including about 26 thousand rooms during the same period.

The company said in the report of hotel construction project trends in the fourth quarter of 2024 for the Middle East region, that at the end of the fourth quarter of last year, the total construction projects in the region reached 619 projects, including more than 155 thousand rooms, noting that the region shows continuous growth with an increase of 2% on an annual basis in projects, and an increase of 6% on an annual basis for the rooms.

She added that the projects scheduled to enter the construction phase in the next 12 months witnessed significant growth, as they increased by 42% on an annual basis, according to projects, and 61% on an annual basis, according to the rooms.

The number of hotel rooms available in Dubai, at the end of last December, reached 154.016 thousand rooms in 832 establishments, compared to 150,291 thousand hotel rooms in 821 facilities in 2023, which makes Dubai clearly advance to major cities such as New York, Bangkok, Paris and Singapore, according to the data of the STR Foundation, which specializes in research and hotel consulting.

It is noteworthy that the hotel market in Dubai recorded during the past year 2024 the highest occupancy rates ever in eight years, despite the entry of additional 46.5 thousand hotel rooms to the service between 2017 and 2024, benefiting from the great growth recorded by the tourism sector in Dubai during the past years.

Dubai’s department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai showed that the general hotel occupancy rate, at the end of 2024, reached 78.2% for about 154 thousand hotel rooms, compared to a occupancy rate of 78% for about 107 thousand hotel rooms in 2017.
