Mark Carne is a new prime minister in Canada

The ruling party in Canada was elected yesterday, Mark Carne, a new leader and head of the next government, to succeed Justin Trudeau, according to official results.

Carney Yassi, 59, won 85.9% of the votes, defeating former Finance Minister Christia Freeland, who came second in the elections in which more than 150,000 party members participated.
